Immigrants Rising, the new name for E4FC, is now accepting applications for their Entrepreneurship Fund for undocumented entrepreneurs!
“The Fund showcases the talents of undocumented young people and amplifies the positive impact of their work. In 2018, we will award $250,000 in funding through $5,000 to $50,000 one-year grants. Grantees will also be offered support and guidance from professional advisors as well as opportunities to network with other undocumented entrepreneurs. Six undocumented entrepreneurs have already received grants and support from the Entrepreneurship Fund, previously called the Fund for Undocumented Social Entrepreneurs (FUSE). We welcome proposals for entrepreneurial projects that address a variety of needs, target diverse populations, and employ different strategies. We are open to supporting projects that serve and advocate for undocumented people as well as ones with broader potential impact. Projects can be non-profit or for-profit initiatives—or hybrid projects that include both nonprofit and for-profit components. Most importantly, projects must create positive social change and must be designed and led by undocumented young people.
Applicants must be born outside of the United States and cannot be U.S. Citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR). Applicants do not need to be eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to qualify.”

Rachel is a PhD student in the Social Sciences and Comparative Education at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies where she is a Research Associate for the Civil Rights Project and the Institute for Immigration, Globalization, and Education. She has worked closely with undocumented youth in several regions including California, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC. Rachel has also worked in the higher education sector for Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, MassBay Community College, Bunker Hill Community College, Achieving the Dream, and Jobs for the Future. She received her Masters in Higher Education from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and her Bachelors in philosophy from the University of Chicago.
Cynthia is a Postdoctoral Scholar and Visiting Professor of Sociology at Pitzer College. Cynthia is also a researcher for the Institute for Immigration, Globalization, & Education (IGE) at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research broadly focuses on issues of college access and college completion for underrepresented student populations, especially as it relates to higher education policy and practice. She received her B.A. from the University of California, Riverside in Psychology and a minor in Sociology, M.A. in Higher Education from Claremont Graduate University, and Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in Social Science and Comparative Education.
