Job Opportunity: Program Assistant for Undocumented Student Services at UCSB

The Undocumented Student Services (USS) at UC Santa Barbara is hiring a program assistant. This is a full-time, limited time, appointment. Pay is $23.47/hr. Some of the responsibilities as an assistant, include: “Provide one-on-one support, information, and referral to students. Keeps abreast of local resources and referral in the areas of undocumented community advocacy, legal services, scholarships, crisis intervention, social services, etc. Supports to recruit and train interns. Supervises and evaluates designated interns.”

The desirable requirements for this position include:

  • “Strong event planning skills such as budgeting, problem-solving, ability to adapt, ability to work well under pressure, and high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience presenting information to diverse groups.
  • Writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with immigration laws and knowledge of higher education policies directly impacting undocumented students.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of faculty, staff, students and researchers on multiple issues and provide assistance and guidance is required. “
