RESEARCH GUIDES & REPORTS

Founder of My Undocumented Life, Carolina Valdivia, and colleagues published a guide meant for educators, counselors, and administrators who work closely with undocumented students. The guide is based on research conducted with undocumented high school students and school personnel. It features information on the set of challenges facing undocumented students in their pursuit of a higher education, key research findings, as well as several recommendations for administrators, teachers, aides, and counselors to better support undocumented students and those from mixed-status families.

College Access: Research & Action (CARA) has released a report that provides an overview of the set of challenges that adolescent immigrant students encounter, as well as the type of support and resources that school personnel can offer to better assist them pursue their educational goals. This includes obstacles and concerns stemming from the lack of legal status. The report draws from interviews with counselors, administrators, and students. For counselors and educators, the report provides helpful recommendations that can be applied in schools. For school leaders and policymakers, the report offers insight into school-wide structures that help foster educational and career success among adolescent immigrant students.

WEBINARS

Immigrant rights organizations frequently host webinars that provide information about the latest immigration policy updates, best practices when working with undocumented students, and the wide range of resources available for them. We recommend checking out these posts for information on how to attend an upcoming webinar or view available recordings.

RESOURCES TO SHARE WITH YOUR STUDENTS
