Educators For Fair Consideration offers a one-year long legal advocate fellowship program, which provides comprehensive immigration law training and hands-on experience analyzing cases, writing memos, and providing follow-up calls to undocumented young people across the United States. This year, E4FC will bring on 3-4 new Legal Advocate Fellows and provide them with a monthly $800-$1,000 grant to support their participation in the program.
Here are the eligibility requirements:
- Have direct knowledge of, or personal connection to, the undocumented experience
- Be currently in college or recently graduated
- Be interested in a career in law, immigrants’ rights, and/or how U.S. laws impact undocumented immigrants.
- Live in the San Francisco Bay Area for the duration of the program (June 2016 to May 2017)
- Have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Have reliable access to a computer and internet from home
- Have strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Google documents and spreadsheets)
- Be able to cooperate and work effectively in a team
- Be able to work independently and remotely online with a strong commitment to meeting weekly deadlines
