- Knowledge: health policy, health career options, financial literacy, transfer from college to a four-year university
- Attitude: patient-centered care for behavioral, mental health, linguistic, and culturally competency; community service; resilience, self-direction and confidence
- Skills: study skills, academic and personal planning, resourcefulness, networking, and leadership
Here are the eligibility requirements:
- Be a high school (11th or 12th grade only), undergraduate (community college or a four year institution) or postbacc student interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.
- Belong to an underrepresented group – first-generation college student, low-income, Latino, African American, undocumented etc.
- Be interested in pursuing a career in medicine, nursing, dentistry, or allied health careers.
- Be committed to issues affecting underserved communities
MEDPEP Program Requirements:
- Attend all academic workshops, pre-health conference, and field trips (see dates below)
- Consistent communication with Peer Mentor (including structured 1-on-1 meetings)
- Attend a minimum of two pre-health conferences
- Submit HOUSE forms each semester (provided by MEDPEP)
- Complete 15 hours of community service per semester
- Have at least one parent/guardian, spouse/partner, sibling or friend participate in one program activity per semester
