Cornell University is hiring an Assistant Director to support undocumented students and members of mixed-status families. The Assistant Director would assist in planning, developing, implementing, and assessing programs and services that serve the undocumented student population at Cornell.
Qualification for this job include:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required. Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education or similar field
- 2-3 years’ experience with undocumented student populations strongly preferred
- General knowledge of DACA laws and the effect on students in higher education
- Understanding of related issues, trends, and needs, especially pertaining to college students
- Experience effecting change from within systems: ability to build relationships and maintain trust, to assess and balance the needs of various stakeholders, and to identify and advocate for achievable solutions
- Experience in working with individuals and groups with a wide array of identity and life experiences, including gender, sexuality, class, race/ethnicity, disability, culture, religion, sexual violence, etc.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills: ability to convey complex concepts and to communicate with students, faculty, staff and community members in a manner that promotes dialogue and understanding
- Experience developing, planning, and implementing workshops or other programming aimed at supporting students, including undocumented students
- Ability to design and implement creative programs to support the academic, interpersonal, and career success of undocumented students
