The National Hispanic Health Professional Foundation (NHHF) is accepting applications for the 2020 National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Application, which awards between 15-20 scholarships to “medical, nursing, dental, public health, and pharmacy and health policy students with outstanding academic records, leadership, and who are committed to serving Hispanics.”
The scholarship is open to U.S. Citizens, permanent lawful residents, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) beneficiaries.
Here are some of the basic eligibility requirements:
- “Students enrolled full time in the following accredited graduate programs: Medicine: allopathic or osteopathic; Dentistry; Pharmacy; Nursing (including BSN); Public Health/Policy; Physician Assistant.
- Eligible students must be enrolled full time for the 2020-2021 academic year.
- Note: Applicants are not required to be Hispanic; an affinity for the health of Hispanic communities and an interest in participating in NHHF Scholars Alumni activities is required.”
The deadline to apply is September 25, 2020

Kenia is a double major in Sociology and Social Policy & Public Service at the University of California, Irvine. She was born in Tijuana, Baja California, and migrated to the U.S. when she was 8 years old. Kenia’s parents always emphasized the importance of going to college but lacked the knowledge of how to navigate the US college application system. With the support of several non-profit organizations, Kenia was able to successfully apply to college. Her journey towards higher education has influenced her into pursuing a career in public service and advocacy for resources for Latinx youth and the undocumented community.
