For DACA recipients, the financial burden of renewing their DACA can be daunting. If you live in the state of Illinois, there are a couple of scholarship opportunities available that may help provide financial assistance to cover your DACA renewal application fees, either partially or fully.
First, the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights’ (ICIRR) New Americans Initiative is currently providing scholarships to help DACA recipients cover the full costs of USCIS’s DACA renewal application fees ($495).
Here are the eligibility requirements for ICIRR’s DACA renewal full scholarship:
- “Applicants must be eligible to renew their DACA application.
- Renewal applications must be submitted through an NAI partner organization under the NAI grant.
- Annual household income must be under 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
- Applicants must submit proof of income.”
Second, the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is offering partial scholarships of $250 to DACAmented students enrolled at UIC.
The deadline for these scholarship is ongoing. Scholarships are subject to availability and are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The scholarship information provided here is subject to change, and availability may vary. Applicants should verify details and eligibility criteria directly with the scholarship providers or organizations offering assistance.
