Fall 2024 & Winter 2025 Independent Dreamers Study Abroad Mexico Program: Open to DACA Recipients

The California-Mexico Studies Center (CMSC) is currently accepting applications for its Fall 2024 & Winter 2025 Independent Dreamers Study Abroad Mexico Program (IDSAP). The Fall program is scheduled to run from October 15, 2024 to January 15, 2025, while the Winter Program is scheduled to take place from December 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025. This program is open to DACA beneficiaries across the United States. It offers participants an opportunity to travel abroad and participate in projects. Please note that participation in this program is not free. There are various costs associated with participating in this program. The fees are outlined and described in greater detail on CMSC’s official website.

Here are the program eligibility requirements as per their official website:

  • “Dreamers living anywhere in the U.S. are welcome to apply. In fact, we encourage Dreamers from other countries to apply because there have been very limited, or non-existent opportunities for them to benefit from a similar program.
  • Applicants whose birth country is not in Latin America will be considered for admission into the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 Independent Dreamers Study Abroad Programs (IDSAP), if they agree to participate in the IDSAP Special Program, individually designed to provide them the opportunity to return to their country-of-origin, participate in a 3-day Orientation and Return Preparation Academic Program, submit their 10–page ethnographic research paper required by the IDSAP from all participants, and agree returning to the U.S. from Mexico City to Los Angeles via LAX.”

The deadline to be considered for the Fall 2024 IDSAP is on July 10, 2024. The deadline to be considered for the Winter 2025 IDSAP is August 10, 2024.
