Providing Direct Assistance for Detained Immigrant Youth & Parents

As immigration enforcement practices escalate across the country, immigrant young adults and their families are being directly impacted—with many experiencing a loved one’s detention or deportation. Community members can support families by volunteering to help with rides or run errands and sharing news about immigration policy updates, among other practical steps. Given that immigration arrests severely impact individuals’ well-being, daily routines, and finances, families are also often in need of direct financial support. Under these circumstances, several immigrant young adults and allies have created online fundraisers to help alleviate the costs associated with securing legal support, mental health services, and housing, among other needs. Below are a few featured fundraisers and petitions of immigrant young adults who are reaching out for support:

Help Bring Jupiter Home

“Jupiter was going about his day, when ICE detained him and is now being held. Jupiter works as a caretaker for the elderly and end-of-life patients.” Read more and consider donating here.

Join My Repatriation Journey Home

“As an undocumented person, I’ve navigated endless barriers, and while I’m lucky to be able to take my job with me to Mexico, I still don’t have the financial safety net to make this life-changing move on my own.” Read more and consider donating here.

Support a Family of 6 Devastated by ICE

“On Wednesday, August 27th as she and her 4 siblings left for school- an 18 year old brother and 3 little ones from 8 to 12 years old- her father was in a detention facility. Unbeknownst to her, as her father left for work in the early morning hours, ICE was stationed outside of her home and had kidnapped him. In minutes he was gone.” Read more and consider donating here.

United We Dream also created a page featuring the stories of immigrant young adults across the country that have been detained by ICE in recent months. This includes young adults with and without DACA. You can read their story and help spread the word here.
