Visual art piece from a participating artist from the AAPI Fund 2020 program titled “Abolitionist Elder” by Tori Hong
The AAPI Civic Engagement Fund (AAPI Fund) is issuing a request for proposals for their 2023-2024 Creative Catalyst Program, which provides opportunities for independent artists to engage the public in critical issues impacting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs)* across the country. They consider a variety of art forms such as music, video, visual arts, performing arts, poetry, and more! Their fellowship is $30,000 for one year and is open to undocumented individuals with and without DACA, TPS, and other temporary statuses. *AAPIs include people from East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and the Pacific Islands.
**Please note that all interested applicants will be required to attend a one hour webinar on August 28th or 29th that introduces the program and the application process. Register for the webinar here.
The AAPI Fund will be funding one-year contracts of up to $30,000 each to hire five artists to produce work with the potential to break through mainstream media and catalyze conversations around the three themes of interracial solidarity, belonging, and voting.
The deadline to apply is September 12, 2023 at 5:00 pm HST / 8:00 pm PT / 10:00 pm CT / 11:00 pm ET.
The program period starts on October 1, 2023 and ends in on November 30, 2024.
