‘DREAMing Out Loud’ Creative Writing Workshop Series in New York City for Migrant Writers: Open to Individuals who are Undocumented (with or without DACA)

DREAMing Out Loud is a creative writing workshop series for migrant writers who identify as undocumented (with or without DACA). This is a paid, tuition-free workshop series that provides professional support and a sense of community to participants. Those selected to participate in this writing workshop series receive “a modest stipend to develop original fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and plays to perform at public readings and to publish in various print and digital formats, including our annual anthology.” Workshops are led by writers from various immigrant backgrounds.

In 2024, there will be three DREAMing Out Loud workshops in New York City and two virtual workshops.

To apply, these are the eligibility requirements:

  • “Applicants must identify as an immigrant;
  • reside and/or go to college in New York City;
  • and be 18 years or older.”

To learn more about the program, and/or ask questions, you can email the program director, Jared Jackson (jjackson@pen.org).

The official deadline (Sunday, December 31, 2023 by 11:59pm) is rolling and may close if all slots are filled.
