The New York State Youth Leadership Council (NYSYLC) is currently accepting applications for its scholarship and fellowship program. This year, they will award 11 scholarships (awards are of $500 or $1,000 per person) and 3 fellowships ($1,500 per person). Please note that there are different eligibility requirements depending on whether you will apply for the scholarship or the fellowship.

Here are the eligibility requirements for the scholarships:

“- Residing in New York State;
– Be a graduating high school senior, have a High School or GED/HSE/TASC™ diploma;
– Be currently enrolled or will be attending one of the following institutions for Fall 2021: college, or trade school, apprenticeship/certificate program;
– Be recommended by an educator, peer, community member, or faith leader;
– Be able to attend the awards ceremony in NYC (details TBD).”

And here are the eligibility requirements for the fellowships:

“- Residing in New York State;
– Be a graduating high school senior, have a High School or GED/HSE/TASC™ diploma;
– Be currently enrolled or will be attending one of the following institutions for Fall 2021: college, or trade school;
– Be recommended by an educator, peer, community member, or faith leader;
– Be actively engaged, or wishes to be engaged, in social justice causes;
– Be able to complete up to 75 hours June 2021 – August 2021;
– Be able to attend mandatory Virtual Orientation on June 23rd at 4 pm – 6:30 pm EST;
– Be able to attend the awards ceremony in NYC (details TBD)”.

The deadline to apply is May 14, 2021, at 11:59 pm EST
