From NYSYLC (New York State Youth Leadership Council), an undocumented youth-led organization in New York: “We are proud to announce our Community Care Grant! This grant aims to support undocumented Lesbian, bisexual, queer, and transgender women and nonbinary and gender non-conforming individuals. You do not have to be openly queer 🌈 to apply! We encourage folks who meet the requirements to apply.” The maximum amount of the grant is $650.
Please note: “All the information in your application will be confidential. Only the committee that will review and distribute the funds will read your application.” And “if you do not speak English, you can ask someone to apply on your behalf.”
Funds can be used for the following: DACA and Advanced Parole fees; College application fees; GED tutoring, classes, or tests; Vocational training, licensing, and testing fees; Books and supplies for technical or vocational programs; Securing legal name changes or gender-affirming IDs; Clothing for job interviews; Uniforms necessary for work.
Here are the eligibility requirements:
- “Lesbian, bisexual, queer, and transgender women and nonbinary and gender non-conforming individuals (You do not have to be out to anyone)
- Age 16-26
- Individuals whose families have withdrawn support because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Formally undocumented, or currently undocumented (includes individuals with DACA)
- Must live in New York State”
The deadline to apply is March 1, 5pm Eastern Time.
